Induction for new children

Staff will introduce new children to the rest of the group and attempt to link them up with a buddy. They will be taken on a tour around the service and the YOSHC boundaries, rules and behaviour guidelines will be explained. They will be supported to become involved in an activity.

Behaviour Management

Behaviour rules for the program are in line with the school policy and are designed to encourage children to be responsible for their own behaviour and to behave in a way that is sociable, peaceful and safe towards others. For behaviour that is considered unacceptable, the child is given a warning. If indicated, a second warning is given and on the third occurrence 'time out is given'. The objective of this is to remove the child from the stimulus and have the opportunity to calm down before discussion with staff about the issue and possible ways to resolve it.

Child Safety

Children will only be handed over to those authorised on the enrolment form, unless written permission is given from the parent/guardian. No child will be permitted to leave the program unless this permission is given.

In the event of an accident/emergency, normal school policy will be followed and an accident report completed.

YOSHC Policies

Please feel free to look through our Policies Folder which is kept in the bookcase opposite the YOSHC desk. We welcome you to our service and trust you will be happy with all aspects of our program. However, should there be a grievance the school policy will be followed which is in the Policies Folder.
