VOCATIONAL EDUCATION AND TRAINING (VET)

VET provides a means for Stage 1 and Stage 2 students to experience the world of work in a range of occupations while still at school. VET programs offer a mix of workplace learning and off job training, with students receiving formal credit towards their SACE as well as industry and TAFE accreditation. Students may be placed with an employer to gain industry specific and general workplace skills and their job competencies are assessed in the workplace to industry standards. Southern Adelaide and Fleurieu Trade School

The Southern Adelaide and Fleurieu Trade School is a collaborative partnership between secondary schools and area schools within the Wallara and Southern Sea and Vines districts of the Department of Education and Children’s Services in the south of Adelaide. Consisting of the following schools:

The Southern Adelaide and Fleurieu Trade School will seek to support students to access VET in schools programs that articulate to Certificate 3 level qualifications and school based apprenticeships by enhancing employment opportunities, partnerships and flexible program delivery to maximise student access to programs and improve retention and engagement.

The Southern Adelaide and Fleurieu Trade School will provide access to learning that leads to jobs in advanced technology/ engineering, construction, community service, viticulture and agribusiness, and other industry sectors in the region where there is a growing demand for skilled workers.

The administration hub, or Work Skills Centre, for the Southern Adelaide and Fleurieu Trade School is located at Christies Beach High School. ‘School to work’ Apprenticeship Brokers based at the Work Skills Centre can link students to training, traineeships and apprenticeships, including School-Based Apprenticeships and employment opportunities.
