Indonesian & International Studies 

As Indonesian is taught at other sites on the Fleurieu, our Reception-Year 6 students have to opportunity to interact and share learning with students at other schools. In addition, we currently have an AEF ambassador from Indonesia, who regularly visits YAS along with a sister school arrangement whereby our students interact with students from Indonesia. 

Students in Years 7-9 undertake International Studies where they further expand their knowledge of cultural competencies within a broader world view. 

Cultural competencies encompasses:

• being aware of one’s own world view
• developing positive attitudes towards cultural differences
• gaining knowledge of different cultural practices and world views
• developing skills for communication and interaction across cultures
